Lecture 1: What is Passion?

  • What is passion? What are we passionate about as Americans and young adults? How did we develop passion for those things?
  • Difference between life purpose/goals and our passion and balancing the two (balancing our career passions vs our spiritual goal and purpose)
  • Hobby passions vs career passions vs spiritual passions
  • What should our passion be? Where should we focus? How do we balance the other things in our life with that passion?

Liturgy Sermon: Luke 21:12-19

"But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My names sake. But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. And you will be hated by all for My names sake. But not a hair of your head shall be lost. By your patience possess your souls."

  • What kind of environment do we need to be in?
  • What are the things we need to remove from our lives? How do we remove them?
  • What major life changes do we need to make? How do we attack the very challenging things? What about the lusts or sins that “are impossible” to get away from or hard to quit?
  • Best support measures and ways for “overcoming the hurdles”

Lecture 3: Lighting the Fire

  • How do we spark the passion for Christ?
  • How do we transition from focusing on our lives to focusing on Him
  • God’s love for us
  • Dangers of lighting the fire for our benefit vs lighting the fire to become one with Him.

Lecture 4: Keeping the Fire Burning

  • How to deal with doubt and boredom?
  • How to deal with the change, both positive change of having Christ in your life and change of removing the negative lusts of your life
  • How do you avoid going back to the way you were
  • How to add the gas on the fire (keeping the passion going and yearning for more)
